Welcome to the Thermal Processing Technology Center
The Thermal Processing Technology Center is under the direction of Prof. Sammy Tin
Vision Statement
The TPTC is designed to provide a forum for industry/university cooperative research involving innovative materials processing and alloy development.
Mission Statement
The mission of the TPTC is:
To advance, develop and promote research into the principles and technology of alloy development, additive manufacturing and engineering through research, development, education, and technology exchange among academic, industry, and government entities;
To increase the quantity and quality of professionals prepared to work in this area;
To involve the faculty of the University in research in areas of common interest to Sponsors and the University;
To perform research that will promote the global competitiveness of Sponsors.
Research Focus
TPTC research topics will be focused on the needs of the Sponsors and the capabilities of the university. Areas of research will include:
- Development of innovative alloys, materials and manufacturing processes
- Additive manufacturing of metals
- Innovative metal forming technologies
- Synthesis and characterization of alloys and composites
- Chemistry - Microstructure - Property - Performance relationships
